The soft colour of blue infused every part of their day and Christine selected not one but two gowns for that wedding day, which had been postponed just by over a year because of the pandemic. The couple asked the wedding photographer to record their day in her signature, artwork style, infused with natural summer light.
"I loved Amy's method of taking pictures. She has a discrete and relaxed nature about her that made us feel so comfortable and natural. I informed her that I felt like I was having our friend take our wedding pictures. She also knows the venue perfectly so I was confident she knew the very best places to capture great pictures."
The couple were brought to each other by a mutual friend within the States and were engaged for three and a half years before they wed.
"Our first date, essentially, would be a blind date. I was working and residing in New York at that time and Sandy was residing in Philadelphia, exercising in New York 2 or 3 days per week. The first date was scheduled to become just drinks but we've got on so well it became drinks, dinner, then more drinks."
"Inspired through the expansive grounds of Cowley and Sandy's favourite colour blue, we chose 'An English Garden Party'-style wedding, ensuring blue was noted throughout."
Christine looks glorious in her pure white gown using its sheer overlay and embellished batwing sleeves.
"I got my lace wedding dresses in the FeelTimes online sale. I loved my dresses probably the most. Her type of dress suits a countryside setting perfectly so was greatly at home at Cowley Manor."
The groom wore a suit and shirt from, a bespoke suit company located in the USA, a shirt and the grandfather's cufflinks.
"It's a business he has utilized in the past for another suiting so he felt confident inside them doing a good job together with his wedding suit, that they did."
As the newlyweds left the church together, they were serenaded by the bride to be's family.
"Outside the church, my relatives sang some Shona (a Zimbabwean language) wedding songs to usher us into our new life like a married couple."
The clear weather allowed Sandy and Christine as well as their guests to celebrate outside at Cowley Manor, experiencing the beautiful summer gardens. The couple had exclusive utilization of Cowley Manor for 2 days and hosted a welcome BBQ the day before the marriage for their guests.
Words of Wedded Wisdom
"We attempted to minimise complex details and events once we believed they'd open up more room and opportunities for error. We also ensured to eat and dance our hearts out. As simple as this stuff sounds, these were the highlights in our big day."
