The purpose of the Grade Calculator, a free online application, is to aid instructors and students in calculating academic grades based on inputted scores and weights. By optimizing the calculation of current grades, it helps users navigate their academic pursuits.


The Grade Calculator helps students estimate the weighted average grade that each assignment will contribute to their course. Hence, the overall grade for a certain course is calculated based on two main factors: the allotted weight (w) for each assignment and the corresponding grade (g) received for that assignment.

By using a grade calculator, one can determine the current average grade in a certain course by taking into account all completed assignments up to the present point in the semester. Afterwards, the Final Grade Calculator determines the lowest score needed on the final exam, which is the last assignment, to get the desired course grade.
