Tudor Watches, A Luxury Brand That Dares Anything - Luxury Watchmakers
Tudor watches are very particular, this brand offers a different collection, daring and aimed at an audience that likes to take risks with the style of their watch, but without giving up haute horlogerie and complex movements.
This week at Montres8 we analyze Tudor watches, the history of the brand and the characteristics that define the pieces of this manufacture.
Tudor watches, born to dare
The main value of this brand, what makes it different, is daring. Tudor tries to reinvent itself over and over again, in every collection, every year. Tudor is one of those manufacturers that fails to unite the opinions of all fans of fine watchmaking, but those of us who appreciate this brand see Tudor as one of the manufacturers capable of renewing the image of Swiss watchmaking from time to time.
Tudor is famous because it is different. It offers very complex mechanisms, designed for lovers of the most exclusive watchmaking, with calibers that offer great precision, its particular design makes a Tudor recognizable at first sight.
Tudor's slogan is "Born To Dare", born to dare, and it shows every time it offers us a new collection.
Tudor Milestones in Watchmaking History
Tudor was born in 1926, the objective of Hans Wilsdorf, founder of the brand, was to offer watches with a quality similar to Rolex, already famous at the time, but at a more affordable price.
The first Rolex watches are launched in 1932, and are exported entirely to Australia. These watches, mostly rectangular, were sent to the other end of the globe to see if they could compete with other luxury brands, the experience was positive and in a short time the Tudor brand became famous throughout the world.
In 1936 the rose was incorporated into the Tudor logo. The symbol is taken from the British royal family known as the Tudors, whose symbol was a red and white rose.
The years immediately after the Second World War are of intense evolution for the brand of the rose. In 1946 Montres Tudor S.A. is created, which will be the parent company of Tudor watches, the following year the logo is modified and in 1948 the first Tudor-specific advertisements appear.
In 1952 the Tudor Oyster Prince appeared, the first really popular model of the brand, which was based on the legendary Rolex Oyster. Three years later, the brand launches its first Tuxedo.
In 1969 the current logo appears on the hand of the Tudor Oyster Date Day, a watch capable of displaying the date and the day of the week.
In its origins, the Tudor brand used the classic lines of brands such as Rolex to be inspired, over time, it chose to redefine the designs of its most classic models, to offer us very particular watches, with a unique design.
Next, we review the characteristics of the most mythical lines of this Swiss manufacturer.
Tudor Black Bay
It is perhaps the most recognizable Tudor design. The Black Bay with a black dial is one of the most characteristic sports watches. The shape of the hands and the shapes of the piece make the Black Bay a unique watch. The Black Bay line offers all kinds of designs, some of them in gold, or with a GMT bezel with 24 hours.
Tudor Pelagos
A simple design, but at the same time very daring. Part of the protagonism is the bezel, although without a doubt, the predominant material in this collection is steel, a perfect material for luxury watches to wear on a daily basis.
Tudor Glamor
For all of us who follow the development and evolution of Tudor watches, the glamor line is the most sophisticated. The new Double Date models are the perfect crown for a dial with diamond and gold finishes, a true luxury on your wrist.
Tudor-heritage
Many watch manufacturers have a Heritage line, Tudor's is really special, they are watches with a very sporty look, with various functions and a mechanism that guarantees an unmatched level of accuracy.
Tudor Glamor
The characteristic gold bezel is one of the hallmarks of a Tudor Glamor watch, pieces that honor the name of this line, which also incorporate details such as diamonds or straps made of different materials.
Classic tudor
In this range of luxury watches we see what Tudor is capable of when it comes to designing exclusive pieces. There are many possibilities offered by the Swiss brand for women and men who are looking for a functional, classic watch, but which at the same time incorporates luxury materials and exceptional movements.
Tudor ambassadors
One of the most peculiar characteristics of Tudor is its communication campaigns. Tudor uses well-known characters to advertise its main models, currently, Lady Gaga and David Beckham are its two main faces, although the brand also collaborates with the Taiwanese filmmaker Jay Chou, the New Zealand rugby team, the All Blacks, and rugby player Beauden Barrett.
Tudor's objective is to position itself as a sophisticated brand, but aimed at a young and at the same time brave audience, who dares to wear different designs in high-end watches.
