"The Old Master's Pillar gives us a lens to examine our work by taking into D2R Ladder Items consideration the techniques that traditional painters such as Rembrandt who used them, and their careful use of details in tonal variety, as well as skilled use of color palettes," Ryder writes. In the Diablo IV zones, Diablo IV will feature variations of weather and lighting such as rain and fog, and include active props. As lead props and interactives artist Chaz Head states within the latest update, ship swaying in the ocean and the nets hanging in the market for drying in Diablo IV's Scosglen Coast area all exist to "breathe life into the incredible structures and terrain" and to provide "real-world scale " that the Diablo world portrays." Other regions that are featured in the quarterly update include the sandy grasslands of Orbei Monastery and the "oppressive" settlement in the medieval period of Kyovoshad.

The update also explores how the team is bringing Diablo IV's dungeons to life. With so many dungeons scheduled to be featured in the game's release, the team needed to modify how it created the environment art so that it could be able to be able that it could be utilized in many areas instead of just an area.


"In the effort to create this an abundance of top-quality content, our team found clever ways to reuse our tile-sets and also add enough variety so that we can provide 150+ dungeons" Brian Fletcher, associate art director for the environment, writes. "All while delivering fresh experiences each time."


Blizzard accomplishes this by "dressing up" different tile-sets with different themes, which are comprised of various items and props. The items are placed on a layer which can be toggled on Buy D2R Items or off, based on the dungeon. This creates one set of tiles that could be both an uninhabited dark cave or a druid burial location in accordance with what is needed.
