"The designers had a vision of creating a character who was the Shadowlands' version of trans. What would that look like? Do we have the ability to WoTLK Gold do it justice and have a character that seems real and talk to these subjects?" Cash explained. "So that's why we've been working together with our LGBT group internally, getting feedback from the voice actor, receiving feedback from the public, making sure our writing was done in a way that felt sincere, heartfelt. This is only one of many characters that fit into diverse spaces."

"At the close of my day, my argument is that we earnestly believe that Azeroth is a place for all, and that's why there's much effort put into Shadowlands to make that more real than it's ever been before," Cash added.

In July, Blizzard shared the first details about Pelagos and his story. Pelagos presented as a woman in his previous life but is now man in the afterlife in Shadowlands. Fans voiced their displeasure in the event that the game identified him using the pronouns "they/them" and was changed to he/him in the Alpha.

"The team had originally written him to use the pronoun they/them However, we received feedback that he/him would be more respectful of the character's desire for being identified with the word man. This change is merely the result of us taking note of and responding to that feedback," Blizzard said at the time.

After a long wait, Shadowlands is set to release on the 23rd of November on PC. In addition to the standard edition, you can pre-order a World of Warcraft : Shadowlands collector's edition for $120.
