Mental health is not talked about enough. In the post-industrialist era, it was rare for someone to visit a therapist or psychologist in order to set themselves straight. Science had not progressed enough, and mental illnesses were not properly diagnosed.
This has led many people who are now in their late 50s and 60s to carry the same generational curse of not basing an emphasis on how important it is to be mentally relaxed. Mental health is actually very important and should be given ample attention because it can potentially destroy your life if taken for granted. A person suffering from mental illnesses could suffer from multiple other physical symptoms.
Confusion
When a person has mental stress, it is obvious they will not be able to think in a very lively manner. Depressive episodes make people feel like there is no hope left for them in life and a sinking hole has been dug for them. The more they think, the deeper they sink. This can cause excessive confusion since there will be times when things around them are perfectly fine, and they do not have things to worry about, but the sadness still persists.
Unable to keep themselves happy, a person will start to believe that they do not deserve happiness or love.
Agitation
Bad mental health can also lead to being agitated and feeling like they are not satisfied with their life. Excessive depressive episodes can be very annoying and can leave the person exhausted. If the person has happy times, it is hard to sustain them since they will be constantly worried about losing this feeling rather than being happy.
A persistent state of anxiety and agitation forms and makes the person feel a lot more conscious about their surroundings. This can lead to unhealthy habits in hopes of washing this feeling away.
Isolation
When a person suffers from mental illnesses and has a brain that is constantly sabotaging them, it becomes very hard to focus on having a stable social life. Having a simple conversation also starts to feel like a chore. It increasingly becomes hard to maintain relationships and be around people constantly.
A recent book named Colden And Wick: Mind Intruders by Josh Wickom also talks about his journey from a serious mental health deterioration and the events that led up to it. He is the epitome of how mental illnesses are real and can severely affect the person going through these stages of life. Colden and Wick are the names of his depressive and manic alter egos, which leave him a simple host in his own body. The book is excellent and gives hope to people suffering since he eventually recovers.
Extreme Mood Swings
Constantly being sad makes a person feel as if they have no control, and those who are bipolar will swing between manic and depressive episodes. This makes a person wild out and have random outbursts of emotions when they feel like things are not going their way. Even if things are going great, there will be times when small incidents will trigger big emotions.
