What looked like it could be a neck and neck race at the 2020 U.S. Open instead turned into a golfing clinic from Bryson DeChambeau.DeChambeau won his first
Rod Carew Jersey ever golf major on Sunday with an astounding final round, one in which he carded a 3-under 67 with two birdies, a bogey and an eagle. Ryan Wolff, who started the day at 5-under and a two-stroke lead over DeChambeau, suffered five bogeys, a double bogey and an eagle to finish in second place at even.It was evident early that Wolff would fall prey to 54-hole leader curse; he bogeyed on the third hole to drop his stroke lead to one. On the next hole, DeChambeau birdied to draw even. Wolff bogeyed on the fifth to lose the outright lead, one which he never regained. It looked as if he might be able to at least draw even when both he and DeChambeau had a chance at eagle on the par-5 ninth hole; Wolff's was from 10 feet, while DeChambeau's was from 38. Both players hit the shot, however, heading into the back nine at 5-under and 4-under, respectively.Wolff suffered bogeys on the 10th and 14th holes, plus a double bogey on 16, to ensure DeChambeau's status as champion. DeChambeau didn't take any chances however, scoring a birdie on the par-4 11th and par on the seven remaining holes to keep Wolff at arm's length through the entire back nine. One final par from DeChambeau on 18 confirmed what everyone already knew:A truly dominant Sunday at Winged Foot.Congratulations to our 2020 champion, ! Michael Pineda Jersey bogey (or worse) on any of the remaining holes, Wolff needs at least an eagle and two birdies to force a playoff.4:55 p.m.: And that might do it: Wolff's 9-foot par attempt on 14 stays left all the way, and he bogeys. DeChambeau, meanwhile, manages to sink a 9-footer to salvage par. Wolff now needs to birdie four of the five remaining holes (and hope DeChambeau doesn't sink any) just to force a playoff.Perfect fist-pump par. leads the 120th by 4 shots. U.S. Open (USGA)

U.S. Open (USGA) (@usopengolf) 4:48 p.m.: Another interesting situation both DeChambeau and Wolff are way, way left of the green into the rough on the 14th hole. Tough situation for both but only one has an extra three strokes to work with.4:40 p.m.: DeChambeau and Wolff both go par on the 13th; time's running out for a comeback.4:28 p.m.: Not quite a disaster for Wolff on the par-5 12th, but not far off: He fails to gain a stroke and settles for par. Justin Ray (@JustinRayGolf) 4:08 p.m.: DeChambeau sinks a birdie on the 11th, giving him a three-stroke lead over Wolff, who goes for par. DeChambeau is starting to pull away in crunch time.3:56 p.m.: Wolff mi ses his par-saving attempt, giving an extra stroke to DeChambeau after he makes par. This could be the turning point of the tournament.3:52 p.m.: Interesting situation over on the par-3 10th; Wolff's tee lands in the rough right by the bunker. He has to choke up on his club and stand in the bunker to get the ball back onto the green, and very nearly sinks a birdie on the attempt. He'll have a
Joe Mauer Jersey 7-foot par attempt, but DeChambeau can gain another stroke or two here depending on how things play out (he has a 15-foot birdie attempt).3:43 p.m.: Unbelievable both Wolff and DeChambeau hit their respective eagle attempts; if there were crowds here, the place would be roaring. They head into the back nine at 5-under and 4-under, respectively.DeChambeau's eagle:SPEEEED PERFECTION. lands an at the 9th. U.S. Open (USGA) (@usopengolf) 3:38 p.m.: DeChambeau and Wolff both find the green on the par-5 ninth, but Wolff has a 10-foot look at eagle compared to DeChambeau's 38-foot attempt; if Wolff can sink that (a suming DeChambeau mi ses and hits birdie), then both golfers will head into the back nine tied for the lead at 4-under.3:29 p.m.: DeChambeau's 10-foot par attempt breaks too soon, and he'll have to settle for the tap-in bogey. Lucky for him, Wolff's 8-foot par attempt just mi sed to the left, so he remains in sole po se sion of first place. They move to the ninth hole at 3-under and 2-under, respectively.3:26 p.m.: Wolff and DeChambeau both looking at long-ish putts to save par on the eight this could be an impactful hole.3:23 p.m.: Xander
