RuneScape's PvP feature, known as the Duel Arena, will also see stricter rules implemented. Jagex states that the feature "has been a catalyst for OSRS Gold the shady behaviour" and that 38 percent of all bans for RWT activity up until now are due to this part in the game. The company says it has already amounted in "thousands of bans every month".
In the end, the developer seems to be taking the nucleus alternative, saying "we're planning in the long run for phasing out down the Duel Arena out of RuneScape entirely." While it's waiting, it will implement "some short-term actions" to clean up PvP "until our development teams are able to deliver an overhaul that completely eliminates Duel Arena next year."
The rules will have a limit for the quantity of GP which is also known as gold points the players can wager on an event at the Duel Arena. Players can place bets "no higher than $50m GP per duel". Further rules haven't been defined yet.
Jagex says that "a brand new game that will be part of the ongoing Elder God Wars storyline" will replace Duel Arena by the time 2022 begins however, no specifics have been released yet.
Although the effect of these changes is yet to be judged, they appear to be some of the strongest that any studio has implemented in order to protect against external misuse of its system to achieve financial gain. If they are successful, similar steps are likely to be implemented across the MMO space in future.
Jagex is announcing that, after 18 years as the main PvP battleground, Duel Arena will be ending its presence in RuneScape and a new area is being added. RuneScape is set to release Het's Oasis Buy OSRS Gold, with an all-new terrain, new skills and two brand-new mini-quests available to play.
