I've periodically checked in with RuneScape over the years to ensure that my account from 2005 remained intact. However, it wasn't until two months ago, that I received a phone call from a close friend from my Gamer Squad*, which simply read, "I want to play OSRS gold," and I set off on my way to Gielinor.
As with any other excellent MMO In RuneScape, the aim of RuneScape changes drastically depending on the player. Perhaps you'd like to complete every one of over 200 quests that will earn you Legendary Hero status. Perhaps you'd like to master at least one of 28 talents required to obtain the illustrious Skill Mastery cape. Perhaps you'd like to make billions flipping items at the Grand Exchanges.
It was exhilarating to go back to RuneScape's Grand Exchange and see people wearing armor and wielding swords that seemed to summon god-killing power and smash my old, golden dragon armour and the abyssal whip (that'd be awesome if you were playing back in the days of my kids).
Even the menus were different however, it was revealed that the kind folks at Jagex set up a lot of support for older players which included a traditional menu mode. In another nod towards old player, I was delighted to discover that if I visited Lumbridge and spoke to Hans one of the most famous NPC since the beginning that he would reward me with a five-, 10 15-year veteran cape. The 15-year cape is something to behold; it has an ember of fire that burns at the at the bottom.
After becoming overwhelmed, I decided to set a long-term dream of mine to master buy OSRS GP. Skills mastery takes long hours of repeated motions until you reach the level of 99 (now 120 in a few skills) The process gives you the coveted cape of an expert. This cape is trimmed. It's bright.
