Earlier the filmmakers decided to release the film on OTT platforms within 4 weeks of its release in theatres but later on, it was decided to postpone its release to around 8 weeks. This will not affect the way Bollywood films are released but will definitely have an effect on the way they are watched. Earlier the 4-week rule was accepted by many people as it was created with the idea to compensate the box office by premiering the film online because of the less earnings.

Most of the films even came online before the 8-week mark, because of which they had to face repercussions and the films faced a tough time. The film ‘Shimla Mirch’ signed a deal with Netflix before the premiere and the makers did not follow the 4-8 weeks mark. That is why the film was ignored in the theatres and wasn’t able to do well on OTT as well. The makers had to make do with single screens and standalone multiplexes.

Recently cinemas have started running at 100% capacity and many Bollywood films like ‘RRR’ have performed extremely well in cinemas and OTT as well. Another recent release that was a super hit was ‘Jug Jug Jeeyo’ which has surpassed the 100 crore mark and has turned out to be a blockbuster. Visit Hare:
