Now Blizzard has announced that Wrath of the Lich King Classic is coming this year. Time to get excited all over once more for one of World of Warcraft's most loved expansions. The original WotLK was launched at the conclusion of 2008, and brought Arthas Menethil, the Lich King to the forefront in the game for the first time ever since Warcraft 3.

Similar to Burning Crusade Classic before it, WotLK Classic won't be exact as what was 14 years ago. The changes aren't too significant, however, and I'll go over everything further down. Here's what we know of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic.

Blizzard hasn't announced a specific release date yet, though it is expected to arrive sometime in 2022. The beta should be available in the months of July or August. Since the new Dragonflight(opens in a new tab) expansion expected to be released on retail WoW in the early 2023 timeframe, we'll probably witness Wrath of the Lich King Classic arrive several months before that. This means we could be looking at a release in September or November.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be part of the monthly World of Warcraft subscription ($15/PS10/EUR13) which includes access to WoW Classic/TBC Classic/WoW Shadowlands.

It's unclear if you'll be required to purchase a clone of your character (if you also want to continue playing the different Classic versions) We'll update this guide when there's any more information.
