Old School Runescape has established a Closed Beta Steam to OSRS gold check their new game customer, and are reaching out to the community to provide much needed feedback. Building a brand new client isn't a small job, but it might be the right move leading up to their official Steam release. On December 7, Runescape developer Jagex set a announcement regarding the building of it is new game customer together with the launch of their Closed Beta evaluation. Old School Runescape's leap to Steam was announced back in September, but it seems that we are still a few months away from seeing the final product.

According to the Old School Runescape site, a brand new game customer has been necessary so as to deliver a solid, user-friendly encounter on Steam, and what better way to test its limitations than with a Closed Beta? The official Java-based client does not seem to work with Steam's core attributes, so that they built the new one in C++. It boasts features such as GPU Support and FPS capping, amongst others, that should all combine together to provide the friendly encounter that Runescape players have come to enjoy. They need comments in the community of testers in order to finetune this new system for performance and pleasure. To this effect, they took to Twitter to ask for help in the Scapers, and provided links for the procedure.

The dev crew even gather a thoughtful FAQ list, included in the announcement, to help bring would-be beta testers up to speed about what to expect from the new client. The list covers many different topics, such as how to register, how to tell whether the beta key email is genuine, the way to give feedback, and even more. There's no listed or planned date for this particular test, which only goes to show just how much they wish to get this discharge right the first time. In 19 years it has gone from a little project developed by two brothers and operate out of their parents home, to a community of more than 1.6 million people and climbing. This is certainly an impressive achievement, however if the Beta is done and the Steam launch goes live, those numbers are sure to start climbing even greater.
