The announcement follows an article by Sports Gamers Online that EA has decided to stop any further update updates to Madden 22 coins the franchise modes for Madden 22. The IGN report was primarily based on an conversation with Madden 22 executive producer Seann Graddy. He said that the content roadmap for this year is "slightly less ambitious than in years before" because the team is focused on a handful of key areas rather than trying to launch content on the scale of Superstar KO, a well-received arcade mode introduced with Madden 20.

"I think the roadmap is] likely to be a little more modest than in the past since we're focusing on a few key elements within Madden 22 and in addition, we're getting ready to launch Madden 23 in a big way," Graddy said at the time. "So I'm going to stick with what we've been saying for the past few years"We're a living service and we'll continue updating our game but not planning to talk about a brand new mode."

The report garnered attention in part because franchise mode is a source of contention for some Madden fans. In fact, the roadmap originally came in response to the campaign #fixmaddenfranchise that was circulating on Twitter during the second half of 2020. This was initiated following reports that EA had not planned improvements for franchise mode in the year prior.

Since this time, EA has released new commissioner tools and also other enhancements, including a major overhaul of its scouting systems. Madden 22 also added an expanded scene engine, cutscenes from the season and coaching skill trees. However, players continue to discuss the various areas in which franchise mode has the potential to improve compared to other franchises, ranging from the relative lack of customization to the myriad bugs.

While EA Sports wouldn't provide any additional details, additional improvements are expected at sometime next year. The updates could include the expansion of franchises and buy Mut 22 coins improvements in the initial plan for Madden 22. Expect more details in 2022.
