When a father noticed his son was conversing with Kate Middleton on a train, he was taken aback. The Duchess of Cambridge went out of her way last week on the way to the Commonwealth Games to make sure her son, Ted, was okay while he used the restroom alone.
According to a column written by Times of London journalist Matthew Syed and published in Newsweek, "five minutes before rolling into Birmingham International for the dordle NEC [arena], I use the restroom (we are going first class) whilst Ted waits outside." "His conversation with a female companion can be heard in the foyer while I go about my business. Are you by yourself? she inquires. He gestures toward the restroom and replies, "No, my dad is in there.""
Syed could hear his son having a pleasant discussion from the stall. Syed wrote on social media, "He got talking to a lady waiting her turn." They were "chatting, giggling." From what he could gather, he wrote in his column, "They [were] having a whale of a time," as reported by People.
Syed came out of the bathroom intent on making sure they made it to their destination on time when he had a regal epiphany. "I tell Ted, "Come on, we have to get off! And, well, thanks for keeping him company...' When I was halted, I turned to the lady in line and said, "Remembering was easy for him. "My face works, my brow furrows. "Kate?" I ask in a hurried voice. The foyer does not have any armed security personnel. And now look, the Duchess of Cambridge is chit-chatting away with my kid."
According to what Syed wrote, Ted said she was "very sweet" but he had "no idea" who he had been talking to. However, he was even more thrilled that he had managed to photograph Kate in an ordinary setting. 'I take this to indicate the Duchess' character and sense of duty,' he continued, "since she had no idea she was conversing to the son of a journalist. The future of the monarchy is secure. Middleton accompanied Prince William and Princess Charlotte, 7, to the games. William piloted their helicopter, which the queen disapproved of.
