A Walled Garden Wedding

Meet visual merchandiser Rachael, and Nei, who's a sales consultant.

They celebrated their marriage on 2 March 2019, in North Yorkshire. Set inside the estate's two-acre walled kitchen garden may be the Boiler House, in which the couple's ceremony happened, and also the Fig House, where they held their reception.

I love the graceful simplicity of Rachael's beautifully cut dress, using its lovely box pleat skirt, v-neck, and mid-back.

"I instantly felt comfortable and confident during my dress. I initially thought I would go for any dress with lace, long sleeves along with a round neckline, but wound up going for any sleeveless dress having a deep V in front and back. I loved the mid-back detail. It has a lovely box pleat detail in front and back, after which it flowed right into a soft skirt with a slightly longer train. The fabric was crepe, also it sat perfectly and wasn't restrictive, which meant I could benefit from the day and also the food!"

"We met at Northumbria University, where Neil studied Fashion Marketing and I studied Fashion Design. We were both out for any mutual friend's birthday in the old Jazz Cafe in Newcastle whenever we got talking and wound up dancing across the street hours later."

"Neil proposed on Longsands Beach at Tynemouth 8 years later in 2015). It would be a sunny but very windy day, and also the beach was practically empty. I cried and Neil got a soggy knee from kneeling around the sand! We had been engaged for pretty much 4 years whenever we got married."

Making their way on the aisle first were Rachael’s sweet flower girls, carrying hoops of greenery, and wearing tulle flower girl dresses and cardigans.

Rachael was accompanied on the aisle by her dad, Dave, and thought she could be nervous, but in the end, she was calm and collected! For her entrance music, she chose Kina Grannis' version of the Beach Boys' song, God Only Knows.

Rachael's bridesmaids looked lovely in white polka dot tops and pink, pleated skirts, and cozy cardigans. They wore mustard yellow sandals from Matalan and jewelry.

The bridesmaids carried wild and natural bouquets of foliage, whilst Rachael carried an amazing bouquet that included pops of vibrant color, with blue waxflower blooms, lilac, and purple anemones and clematis, sunny orange ranunculus, and sea holly.

In preserving the fun and relaxed feel of the day, the couple's evening entertainment would be a playlist of lovingly curated music of special significance, with speakers rented.

"Our first dance ended up being to Ooh La La by The Faces. We wanted a song that everybody could dance to, nothing not fast enough, and something a little different. It's a song that people both love. It's tough to describe, it's only a great song."

"We wouldn't change anything about our big day, everything was perfect, the conga line with the garden within the rain was perfect!"

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"We loved planning your day, once the large items were booked in, we gradually planned the remainder. Try to benefit from the planning and don't do things simply because it's how other people get it done. It's your day also it should be unique for you both. We had a lot of fun on our big day and I think that's how it ought to be."
