I recall seeing New Horizons Items some of this and folks are simply plain ridiculous. With this type of ideology, just Japanese people should be able to play with Animal Crossing in the first place since it was produced by a Japanese man based on his youth in Japan. I hope they are not using or wearing any items that don't belong to their cultural heritage either most cases of what Twitter people call cultural appropriation is much more along the lines of just appreciating another culture. Eating foods, wearing clothing, usually that's perfectly fine, it is usually someone not of that civilization which makes the biggest deal out of it.

To a certain extent, I could see why cultural appropriation is a problem. Taking something from a culture and using it in a disrespectful manner. Like creating an important heritage into a joke is pretty shitty. But so long as the origin is admired, or at least not direspected, restricting things depending off ethnicites or where you live/were born is asinine. Learning out of eachother is a great thing, wisdom and ideas should be shared, not restricted without good reason.

Cultural appropriation is taking an important cultural component that has significance/is sacred from the original civilization, and utilizing it because you like the look of itit's"exotic" and"trendy." It's particularly a problem once the original culture is generally erased by the borrowing culture.A good case in point is wearing Native American headdresses. Those are generally earned, rather than just anyone can wear them.

However, I understand a lot of bitterness comes from people with legacy from different cultures hoping to embrace that heritage as children while growing up in westernized society and getting made fun of by other kids because their clothes is indeed distinct, and so on, only to find out that now that they are mature, what they were made fun of to get as kids is currently considered"trendy" from the kind of animal crossing buy bells online people they were teased by. That bitterness is understandable.
